My name is Paulette Andria Hamilton
I am a visible minority who had a good union job worked since I was ten.
all things came in stages and I sometimes wonder how I'm still kicking.
1. stage Had to fight to get the job as ECE even though I was qualified worked my way up within the Union Cupe if you can believe that but only on the my local level.
2. lost job and no longer could afford the apartment I was staying in moved went to new digs in park dale.
3. owner losses house in the big downfall of real-estate.
4. I fight the city, let them know that there is someone living at 28 landsdowne.
5. I sign up for housing connections talk to my 3 different case workers volunteer my time in hopes of finding a job.
6. I get illegally evicted by the new landlords and every where I turned tribunal and gov't agencies and my mpp I seem to get no proper advise.
7. January 6th 2010 will be burned in my memory kick out in the cold and had to go a shelter women's Residence and that is another night mare I will speak about at another time.
8. I am now a homeless diva actively looking for a place I can afford on OW and trying to get back on track and go back to school for second Career before the program is taken away.
9. I finally found a group home with Echo home and hope to get back to the west end by sept.
10. I have been broken, made to feel insane because I demand that I be treated with respect and housing is a right of privilege and everyone should have a home that they can call their own.
One goal I had was to get out of the shelter by February 19 my birthday before I turn 39 well I did it and now must make another goal.
